Is it time for a risk assessment checkup? Your bank is required to have a written risk assessment accounting for all of your products/services, customers/entities, and geographic locations. This risk assessment must be updated every 12 to 18 months. Many institutions have evolved into thinking the “BSA Way”. We add a product - we change our risk assessment. We add a geographic location- we change our risk assessment. However, some institutions wrote an initial risk assessment and have not changed it or their BSA policy since.
In this session, you will learn to think the “BSA Way”. Bank Secrecy Act touches everything you do. If you’ve added remote deposit capture, you’ve added risk. If IOLTA accounts are now a part of your state law, there is added risk. Products, services, customers and geographic locations that affect a bank’s risk will be evaluated. Updates to the BSA Exam manual that were released in August, 2007 will be reviewed. In this session, you will learn how to keep the risk assessment up-to-date.
